The NN - 21382 BLE Keypad is designed for Driver ID input within the Driver Authentication function of compatible tracking units. This BLE-based identification method provides a more flexible and secure alternative to traditional iButton or RFID solutions. It eliminates issues related to the loss, theft, or misplacement of physical keys or cards. The driver enters a Driver ID of up to 14 digits (digits 1–5 followed by the * key). The keypad transmits the Driver ID to the tracking unit via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Upon receiving the ID, the tracking unit initiates the Driver Authentication process, sends a Driver ID message to the control centre, and/or deactivates the vehicle immobiliser, depending on the configured parameters.
- Shift Management - The keypad facilitates seamless shift changes and handovers. Drivers can log in and log out quickly, providing accurate records of when each driver starts and ends their shift.
- Driver Accountability - Each driver is assigned a unique identification code or PIN. The keypad ensures that only authorized drivers can access and operate specific vehicles in the fleet. This helps in tracking who is responsible for a particular vehicle at any given time, promoting accountability among drivers.
- Vehicle Access Control - The keypad restricts unauthorized access to fleet vehicles. Only drivers with the correct identification code can start the vehicle, preventing theft or unauthorized use.
- Data Accuracy and Reporting - Driver identification data is logged and can be used for generating accurate reports. Fleet managers can analyze driver-specific data, such as driving behavior, fuel consumption, and vehicle utilization.
- Regulatory and Compliance - Driver identification systems help fleets adhere to regulatory requirements. Certain regulations may require accurate tracking of driver hours, and the keypad ensures that data is attributed to the correct driver.
- Preventing Unaothorised Use - If a vehicle is not in use or is parked, the keypad ensures that it cannot be operated without the correct identification code. This reduces the likelihood of unauthorized use during non-working hours.
- Driver Performance Monitoring - Fleet managers can track individual driver performance based on data collected through the identification system. This includes monitoring driving habits, adherence to speed limits, and overall compliance with safety protocols.
